GLA's 2nd Annual "Literature 4 Life" Benefit and Slam Showcase Will Be Friday, April 7th

This year has been full of changes and successes for GLA, its programs, and its students. Come help us celebrate at our 2nd Annual "Literature 4 Life" Benefit and Slam Showcase.

When: Friday, April 7th, 6:30pm - 9:30pm

Where: The Square Room on Market Square

Last year's event (when the organization was still named Own the Boards) drew over fifty attendees and featured an open mic and slam performances by I.N.K. Poetry and other seasoned slam poets. This year, we're building upon these successes.

This year, the first hour will feature live music by Knoxville-based band Latitude 35. Attendees can grab a snack (we'll have heavy hors d'oeuvres from Cafe 4 and a cash bar) and bid on items in our silent auction. The second hour will showcase slam performances by Knox Generation students and other local spoken-word poets.

Even better, April 7th is a First Friday, so downtown Knoxville will be bustling. And, to top it all off, April is National Poetry Month. We can't think of a better way to celebrate than supporting local Arts at its finest!

A full listing of silent auction items will be available the week prior to the event. Tickets are available for purchase online before the event or at the door.
